Finish Removal and Preparation For The Customer To Complete Finish Application (DIY)
Let’s face it, applying the final finish to a furniture piece is a lot easier and much more fun than the preparation work! Let us do 85% of the hard labor and remove the old finish and prepare the piece for your “do it yourself” custom finish job.
As with our full refinishing service, all preparation work is done by hand, the old-fashioned way without using any chemical stripping agents. After the piece is sanded to a smooth surface, it is carefully hand sanded one final time with 180 grit sandpaper and inspected under intense light. This attention to detail ensures you receive a furniture piece that is ready for you to apply the finish of your choice! For your convenience, we offer the full color line of General Finishes stains and topcoats for sale in our retail shop area.
Preparation for the “do it yourself” customer furniture varies in price based on the size, complexity of detail trim, and any needed repairs you have selected for us to perform.
Please note, if your furniture piece already has a painted finish, our finish removal technique is not designed to remove all the existing paint, but rather it provides an even, level surface for the next step of your repaint project. For your painting convenience, we offer the full color line of ready to use General Finishes Milk Paint for sale in our retail shop area. All General Finishes Milk Paint is a premium self-sealing interior/exterior mineral based paint with a low-luster sheen that is kid and pet safe!
